- Triggering the Saquon Spin Hurdle - To trigger the spin hurdle the ball-carrier must be Saquon Barkley, the defender must be incoming from a 45 degree angle in front of the ball carrier, the defender must be within a close proximity to the ball carrier, and the user must press the hurdle button with the right timing.
- Addressed an issue where users were able to create illegal formations by motioning the tight end after an audible
- DEV NOTE: This tactic was most effective when having the offense audible into formations like Trips TE or Bunch TE. Users could motion the tight end over to the same side as the trips receivers and create offensive overloads. The formations created were not legal formations and this functionality has been removed.
- Fixed the QB walking through the center on QB Kneel plays. The QB now is in the correct position to start and walks into the correct position behind the center
- Fixed the defensive end lining up in the same spot as the defensive tackle in the 4-3 Over Solid formation
- Addressed an issue where no power kicks would land at spots in the front of the landing zone that were difficult for the kicking team to recover
- DEV NOTE: There has been a change made to kick power and ball placement so no power kicks will now fall short of the landing zone. There will need to be at 25% power for the ball to make it to the landing zone
- Fixed an issue with outside deep fourth defenders biting down on return routes instead of staying deep
- Fixed an issue where deep zone defenders would not keep depth when they had no receiving threat in their zone and would allow Post Routes from the other side of the formation to get behind them
- Fixed an issue where deep third defenders in Prevent defense were not all staying deeper than the deepest across the field
- Fixed an issue where the inside deep fourth safety would leave the slot receiver unguarded, going vertical in the Empty Bunch Verticals play
- Fixed an issue where the inside deep fourth safety allowed the slot receiver in bunch formations on a streak to run past him for a TD
- Fixed an issue where Seam Flat defenders in the Dime 1-4 FS Zone Blitz play were not covering the correct sides of the field against the Gun Bunch Str Nasty: MTN Curls play
- Alignment improvements in Cover 4 Quarters, Palms, and Cover 6 where the outside Deep Fourth, Quarter Flat, and 3 Rec Hook triangulate their positioning against Bunch Receivers to handle first inside, and first to flat, and deep threat
- Fixed an alignment issue where defenders were lining up in the wrong position on Nickel 3-3 Odd Pinch 0 allowing the middle slot receiver to be left unguarded in Empty sets

Before we break into our regular Gridiron Notes Formation… let’s talk about the more than 800 updates spanning all 32 NFL Team playbooks, all stemming from real-life utilization and play-calling.
In today’s Title Update, offensive ingenuity is front and center. More than 800 updates have been made to offensive playbooks alone, including the addition of some plays that are brand new to Madden after they’ve made a splash in the 2024-2025 NFL season.
Let’s take Justin Jefferson’s 97-yard Week Two touchdown, for example. That’s now in Minnesota’s offensive playbook as PA Shot Post. You can even custom stem the Shot Post route that led to Jefferson’s house call!
Sample New Formations:
The Madden PlayerCard is a new customization feature that allows players to design their own unique PlayerCard featuring content of your favorite NFL Team! Set your Background, Profile Picture, Border and Badges to represent your favorite franchise. Your PlayerCard will be displayed in online games to other Madden Players. NFL Team Pass content requires in-game purchase and gameplay to unlock.
NFL Team Pass is a new objectives system that allows players to unlock awesome themed content for the Madden PlayerCard. Select your favorite team and complete objectives across multiple game modes to unlock the coolest NFL Team Pass Content.
Gameplay
- Increased the amount of force necessary to cause a physics-based knockout on interception attempts, reducing the amount of dropped interceptions.
- DEV NOTE: We’ve noted lots of feedback regarding too many dropped interceptions. We found that many of the drops were a result of physics-based catch knockouts. In this Title Update, we have increased the amount of force necessary to cause a catch knockout on interceptions, which will result in fewer interception drops. This gameplay adjustment will apply when playing on Competitive Game Style.
- General Tuning to lower the ratings threshold necessary for a player to have a guaranteed catch chance on an interception attempt on Competitive Gamestyle. This gameplay adjustment will apply when playing on Competitive Game Style.
- Updated the ‘Throwing Dots’ achievement description to appropriately detail what is necessary to unlock the achievement.
- Reduced the accuracy of High Throw mechanic passes on Competitive Gamestyle.
- DEV NOTE: We are reducing the pass accuracy of high throws to bring more gameplay balance between offense and defense, based on player feedback. The mechanic will still be effective but players will not be able to successfully use it with such high frequency. This gameplay adjustment will apply when playing on Competitive Game Style.
- User-controlled ball carriers are no longer able to dive when they have their Ball Carrier Coaching Adjustment set to Conservative.
- DEV NOTE: Users will still be able to slide and give up when their Ball-Carrier Coach Adjustment is set to Conservative but they will no longer be able to use the high leaping dive animation. Regardless of whether the user taps or holds X/Square, they will only be able to Slide or Give up.
- Increased the chance of catch knockouts when a receiver is hit immediately after the catch point.
- DEV NOTE: After receiving feedback from players about wide receivers, running backs, and tight ends holding onto too many catches when being hit hard immediately after the catch point. Our goal here is for the skilled Catch-In-Traffic receivers to still hold onto catches when being hit while trying to secure the catch but lesser skilled Catch-In-Traffic receivers will get the ball knocked out on those bang-bang plays. This gameplay adjustment will apply when playing on Competitive Game Style.
- Fixed physics-based tackling issue that would cause the ball carrier to spin on the ground after a hit stick
- Addressed an issue where the outside receiver on the Gun Trips Slot Close: Blast play had the wrong assignment and would not block appropriately on the play

- Improved ‘Box Call’ logic to Cover 4 Quarters and Cover 4 Palms to better defend passes out of bunch formations
- DEV NOTE: The ‘Box Check’ is a zone-check made by the defense in Cover 4 Match plays vs. Bunch and Tight formations. It intends to have four defenders ‘box’ in three receivers. It is a zone match concept, so coverage defenders will initially read the play while they drop into their zones, and then match-up in man coverage on the receivers who enter their zone.

- Fixed an issue where a receiver would go offsides and run off the field caused by using a hot route on an auto-motion player

- A variety of improvements to play-art in the play-call screen
- Revamped passing mechanic added as an additional passing setting, also added to Hospitality Suite
- Addressed an issue giving receivers a speed boost when using Custom Stems and then Smart-Routing
- Dev Note: We made this speed boost much harder to achieve and we’re working on a fix for a future Title Update. There’s also an additional change coming soon that will further balance which route segments will be able to be customized.
- Added a new Switch Stick delay option to the Gameplay Settings Menu:
- No Delay
- Slight Delay
- Large Delay
- Disable Switch Stick
- Update to make the online kick meter default to the new Multi-Meter, as well as the default in the Hospitality Suite
- Tuning to decrease pass speed when equipped with velocity-based passing abilities, Set Feet Lead and Pass Lead Elite
- Tuning to increase the Defensive Lineman chance to sniff out the HB Slip Screen play
- Addressed an issue where Kick Returners were not able to reach the ball landing spot within the Landing Zone allowing for a specific kickoff tactic.
- Dev Note: There are other variations of kickoff maneuvers in addition to this one that the team is working on getting addressed as soon as possible.
- Added new pursuit logic to further differentiate high-pursuit rated players, improving pursuit angles for better players
- Updated the placement of the ball to be at the 30-yard line after a kickoff goes out of the back of the endzone
- Added logic so that defenders will not be faked out by Double-Pass trick plays when using Pass Commit
- Fixed an issue sometimes causing an ‘effort’ catch to trigger on a catchable pass
- Fixed an issue allowing a free rusher on a specific blitz set-up out of Nickel 2-4 Double Mug and one out of Dollar 3-2 Overload
- Dev Note: Similar to the kickoff issue, there are other blitzes in addition to the ones fixed in this update that the team is actively working towards addressing as soon as possible.
- Tuning to WR blocking so that defensive backs are able to get off blocks quicker in ratings match-ups favoring the defender
- Tuning to WR/DB block interactions so DBs are able to get off of the blocks quicker when they have the appropriate ratings
- Fixed issues causing sideline characters to go through edge walls in Seattle, Miami and New Orleans stadiums
- Fixed a variety of minor animation issues in Physics Based Tackling
- Tuning to decrease Illegal Man Downfield penalties on RPO’s
- Fixed an issue allowing HB’s to be given backfield hot routes when aligned on the line of scrimmage
- Fixed a rare issue causing the QB to become frozen when being tackled during a specific handoff
- Fixed issues causing defenders to go offsides from pre-snap movement in a variety of defensive formations
- Fixed an issue allowing defenders to sometimes slip through double teams without the appropriate animation
- Fixed an issue allowing players to use the spin move when using the conservative ball-carrier coach adjustment
- We have clearly heard players’ desire for improvements to pass coverage, and the team is working on a significant set of improvements in a future title update. The incoming improvements being investigated include:
- Hard Flats
- Cover 3 Deep Zone
- Match coverage checks vs. bunch sets
- Press animations
- Zone Drop Coach Adjustments
- In addition to pass coverage, we also have improvements on the way for kickoff exploits, blitzes, AI-play calling and spin-move tuning.
- Fixed an issue where the option to “Import Draft Class from Download Center” was removed from within the Franchise League
- Fixed an issue where the wrong player model would display during an Online Draft after pausing and resuming the Draft
- Tuned some areas with our logic to address the issue surrounding our simulation stats to get them more inline
- Updated the profanity filter flow when importing players from EA Sports College Football.
- Fixed an issue where the camera would freeze during gameplay in The League.
- Fixed text issues in Draft cinematics.
- Fixed an issue where leaderboards could not be sorted by rank or player name.
- Fixed an issue where the rank summary screen was not being displayed properly when a user concedes the game.
- Fixed an issue where incorrect rank icons were being shown in ranked leaderboards.
- Fixed an issue where the top 100 leaderboard did not update to the correct rank icons.
- Fixed an issue where users were set to Bronze or Silver in the Division Leaderboards despite being in placement matches or unranked.

- Fixed incorrect text on broadcast wipe that said “End of Regulation” at the end of an overtime period
- Fixed broken broadcast wipe if a player is tackled for a safety
- Fixed missing replay after a fake punt
- Fixed coin toss result being displayed before the coin is tossed by the referee in overtime
- Fixed ‘Coaching’ option in pause menu within Practice Mode
- Resized the Celebration mechanic wheel to be smaller and moved away from the center of the screen
